Distribution	Nordhalbkugel, Irland bis Südschweden, Wattenmeer Überall an der Ostküste Amerikas, von dort nach Europa verschleppt und hier in Nordirland sowie rund um die Nordsee bis in die westliche Ostsee eingebürgert. Weitere verschleppte Vorkommen im Pazifik an der US-Küste und in Nordalaska.
