Weltweit, Mittelmeer bis Nordatlantik, Nordsee bis Kattegat
Im Nordatlantik vom Golf von Mexiko bis in die Gewässer Islands und zum Kattegat überall vorhanden, ebenso im westlichen Mittelmeer. Darüber hinaus an der Westküste Amerikas beiderseits der Äquatoriolregion, im Golf von Bengalen und in Japan anzutreffen.
